Following a lot of drama and speculation over the last few days, WWE announced last night that the original casket match scheduled for the Greatest Royal Rumble event is back on.
The initial match of Rusev versus Undertaker had been replaced by a match between Undertaker and a returning Chris Jericho, with little to no explanation why.
Following the change, Rusev proceeded to remove all traces of WWE from his social media, leading to speculation that he had asked for his release. However, it seems as though the speculation was just that, as Rusev has been added back in to the match against The Deadman, after approval from his wife Lana, of course.
After much thought, I have notified @WWE officials that I have changed my mind. @RusevBUL will celebrate #RusevDay by burying The Undertaker in the sands of Saudi Arabi and will win the Casket Match at #WWEGRR ! #RusevCrush ! Have a Happy Rusev Day !

This is a huge match for Rusev as it is likely seen as an honour to wrestle The Undertaker and hopefully it signals the beginning of Rusev’s elevation in WWE’s programming, despite what will likely be an inevitable loss in Undertaker’s flagship match type.
