A glorified house show or a fixture pay per view for years to come? Whatever your perception of WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble Event is right now, it’s happening and the card is looking pretty stacked. With that in mind let’s get into my predictions for who I think will come out on top in each match.
The Undertaker vs Rusev:
I think pretty much 100% of the people who know even the smallest thing about WWE would take The Undertaker in this one. We all love Rusev but he’s going into this as the heel (for the love of God, don’t ask me why) and Taker is fresh off his squashing of John Cena so it’s highly likely he’ll be kept looking strong. It’s still a massive match for Rusev and I hope he puts in a good showing so that WWE will start to take him more seriously, going forward.
John Cena vs Triple H:
This is probably the toughest one to call, for me. I can truly see it going either way, but I think i’m going to go with Cena. It’s likely that a Cena win will get a great reaction from a Saudi crowd, especially over the notoriously evil Triple H, so I feel like that’s the approach that we are likely to see.
Cedric Alexander vs Kalisto:
It’s too soon to take the belt off Cedric, he should stay at the top of the crusierweight division for a while to help legitimise and strengthen the 205 Live brand, so I have him taking this one.
The Bludgeon Brothers vs The Usos:
Rowan took the loss on Smackdown Live to one of the Usos (I still can’t tell the difference), thanks to an interference from Naomi. They’re likely to hold on to the belts to keep them looking strong, especially since Naomi won’t be able to get involved this time. I’m taking Bludgeon Brothers but I really hope they get a bit of time because I feel like this match has a lot of potential.
Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy vs The Bar:
With Sheamus and Cesaro moving over to Smackdown Live I doubt they will be winning the Raw Tag Team Championship back so i’m going with Bray and Matt. Plus, I think it’ll be really fun to see them have a run with the belts.
Jeff Hardy vs Jinder Mahal:
Similar to the previous match, i’m taking Jeff for this one because I can’t see the US Title and the Intercontinental Title switching brands – meaning a later prediction is narrowed down to two men instead of four. It seems like Jeff is getting a bit of a singles push right now and it would be strange to see that put to the end so soon.
AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura:
I absolutely love everything about heel Shinsuke. With his new found love for low blows and new entrance music, I am almost certain he’ll win the WWE Championship from AJ this time around.
Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor vs The Miz vs Seth Rollins:
Well, you already know i’ve ruled out The Miz and Samoa Joe based on the Jeff Hardy victory prediction. So, i’m taking Seth to retain. I can see a Finn and Seth feud at some point in the future but think that’ll likely come from a heel turn, which I can’t see happening here. I also completely forgot this was a ladder match until now and i’m certain we’ll see some great spots from Seth and is it wrong that I want to see a Coup de Grace from the top of a ladder?
Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns:
Well we all thought Roman would win at WrestleMania and now we all think he’ll win here. He’s likely to get a good reaction in Saudi Arabia so a win here would be good for promo packages moving forward, I guess. I’ll guess that Roman escapes the steel cage to keep Brock looking strong by not taking a pin fall. This is bound to be Roman’s crowning moment and say what you will about Reigns, but at least we’ll have a full time champ again.
50-Man Royal Rumble:
Given that we don’t know all the participants, this is also tough to call. I want to go with Daniel Bryan for the feel good factor, but I can’t see anything other than Big Cass eliminating him. So with that in mind i’m going to go with Braun Strowman. It’ll be a great pop for him to win and I really don’t know who else could win it because lets face it, who will be strong enough to lift him over the top rope?
Well there you have my predictions, go ahead and tell me i’m wrong and why, I know you want to.
